As a fully accredited, progressive health care organization, Geraldton District Hospital is committed to providing

high quality services to residents of Greenstone and surrounding First Nations communities.
With 23 acute care beds, 26 long-term care beds, a 24-hour emergency department and a heliport, Geraldton

District Hospital provides an array of services, including clinical nutrition, diagnostic imaging,
laboratory, outreach chemotherapy, rehabilitation social work and telemedicine.

Patient and Family Advisor
Volunteer

Patient Family Advisors (PFA) are volunteers who will be a voice at the table representing how
to better improve patient quality of care and add balance and valuable perspectives as we
move forward with our new strategic plan and goal setting. Patient Family Advisors (PFAs) will
be involved in committees such as Quality Improvement, Strategic Planning, the Emergency
Department Planning Committee and Program Development.

Patients or families of patients will have experienced care within the past two years to
participate in this role.

Patient and Family Advisors may assist in any or all of the following to enhance in the delivery
of Patient Centered Care:

Bringing unique perspectives and expertise to the organization by sharing their hospital
experiences and telling their stories.

Actively participating with healthcare providers on councils, committees, teams or focus
groups.

Provide input into patient care, organizational processes, education, research, patient
safety and quality improvement.

Help to improve the environment and design of the organization.
Participate in a mentoring or supportive role with other Patient Family Advisors.
