The Staff Support Program Specialist is responsible for a first-tier response to provide confidential, individual support to colleagues who are in emotional distress, and to provide group support to teams exposed to distressing and/or traumatic events. The Specialist will also help develop, advance, and provide oversight to the a broader wellness strategy/mental health action plan to support staff, physicians, and learners at LHSC. This role will also be responsible for facilitating training and education sessions on topics related to the wellbeing and resilience of a healthcare workforce.

Rate of Pay: $34.71 per hour - $43.40 per hour

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of an undergraduate degree in health related field; Psychology or Counseling, or as acceptable by the hospital
  • Membership in a regulated health profession preferred
  • 2 years recent related experience
  • Demonstrated advanced skills in facilitation and advocacy
  • Ability to take initiatives and be self-directed with general operations of the Wellness department
  • Demonstrated proficient knowledge in field of occupational health and safety
  • Demonstrated proficient project management experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning techniques
  • Demonstrated proficient knowledge of hospital policies, collective agreements, sick leave/benefit plans
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC’s Mission, Vision and Values
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis

Immunization Requirements:

  • Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, Tetanus/ Diphtheria/Polio; Meningitis.
  • Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing (two step) and COVID vaccine series.
