Job brief

We are looking for a Data Entry Clerk to type information into our database from paper documents. The ideal candidate will be computer savvy and with a keen eye for detail. You will report to a senior data team member. Understanding of data confidentiality principles is compulsory.

The company will rely on you for having accurate and updated data that are easily accessible through a digital database.

Responsibilities

  • Transfer data from paper formats into computer files or database systems
  • Type in data provided directly from customers
  • Verify data by comparing it to source documents
  • Update existing data
  • Retrieve data from the database or electronic files as requested
  • Perform regular backups to ensure data preservation
  • Maintains a filing system and protects confidential customer information
  • Uses basic office equipment (photocopy machine, facsimile machine etc)
  • Sort and organize paperwork after entering data to ensure it is not lost
  • Completes additional assigned tasks as required

Requirements and skills

  • Experience as data entry clerk is preferred however full training will be provided
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks with a high degree of accuracy
  • Typing skills
  • Ability to multitask effectively
  • Working knowledge of office equipment and computer hardware
  • Basic understanding of databases
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word) would be an asset however this is not a requirement
  • Good command of English both oral and written and customer service skills
  • Great attention to detail
  • Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision
  • High school degree or equivalent
