JOB DESCRIPTION
The Infrastructure Administrator I is responsible for ensuring that the performance and availability of the server and network infrastructure is maintained to the highest standard with maximum levels of productivity and efficiency. They are responsible for the maintenance of the physical networks, servers, operating systems, firewalls, internet connectivity, virtualization, and business applications. In addition, they oversee both information and data security. The Infrastructure Administrator I identify’s performance problems and malfunctions, addresses systems and equipment problems, performs hardware checks using appropriate testing tools, and maintains hardware.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintains, monitors, and supports the infrastructure environment
- Works on small, low complexity initiatives and resolves hardware, software, and connectivity problems
- Supports a number of low complex systems, applications, or databases (complexity defined by size, technology used, and system feeds and interfaces) with multiple concurrent users, ensuring control, integrity, and accessibility
- Assists in developing enhanced production monitoring and additional capabilities
- Assists in configuring and setting up the network/DC, which can include installing the hardware and configuring the files or databases, hosts, routers, and network configuration equipment
- Assists in adding new host machines to the network/DC and administers network/DC security
- Maintains WAN, LAN, and local internet, remote access, VPNs, and connectivity protocols
- Performs routine network/DC startup and shutdown procedures and assists with maintaining control records
- Assists in expanding networks/DC as needed by helping with the setup of new hardware and software and connecting to existing assets
- Assists in programming, installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining all aspects of the telecommunications equipment including the security and server updates or patches
- Provides necessary support and guidance to all mobility initiatives and platforms
- Assists in managing current storage environment by resolving any storage shortages, alerting, and resolving any performance issues, and ensuring data is available to all applications
- Assists in supporting Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software, S2K VAI
- Assists in supporting the needs of the business using the IT ticketing system
- Maintains business SLA thresholds dealing with IT ticket submissions from the business
- Any other duties as assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of 1 year work experience in the information technology sector
- Post-Secondary degree in computer or information science, computer engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience
- Basic knowledge of industry leading practices in technical administration of on-premises virtualization and cloud solutions
- Ability to provide solutions to non-technical personnel
- Ability to work and multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Team player with proven interpersonal skills and ability to work well with other departments
- Ability to meet aggressive deadlines while under minimal supervision
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must have winning attitude with exceptional customer service skills
