Job Profile

The Weekend Shift Supervisor is a full time role that works collaboratively with other production Supervisors and the Production Manager to coordinate and execute the work. The Weekend Shift Supervisor is responsible for the direct supervision and guidance of all weekend shift activities including the machine shop, weld shop and material handling teams ensuring safety, quality and efficiency standards are met.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Working from the schedule, ensure scheduled work to process projects through the shop to ensure on time delivery
  • Coordinate effective communication procedures between weekend and weekday shift employees
  • Guide the Machine shop and Weld Shop teams, ensuring quality and efficiency standards are met
  • Ensure effective management of incoming and outgoing material, working with Material Handling team
  • Coordinate work with other departments to ensure timely delivery of a quality product
  • Read and interpret drawings to provide direction to shop floor
  • Ensure work is performed efficiently to reduce cost
  • Oversee onboarding and training of new staff to Prairie Machine standards
  • Liaison with maintenance to ensure equipment is operational

Department Specific Expectations

  • Communicate with other departments to ensure schedule and quality needs are met
  • Understand Prairie Machine’s Scheduling needs and adherence
  • Communicate and understand the manufacturing process to staff
  • Work closely with warehousing and shipping regarding customer and production needs
  • Perform timecard and HCM approvals
  • Have a direct role in Non-Conformance Reporting and disposition process
  • Understand the material handling process
  • Understand the procurement/requisition process
  • Understand the reporting process in regard to Safety and Quality
  • Coach and mentor staff on an ongoing basis
  • Understand Prairie Machine’s engineering and drawing control process

General Expectations

  • Follow prescribed safety standards, rules, and regulations, ensuring all workers comply
  • Understand and participate in Prairie Machine’s Health and Safety program by Instilling a safety culture, leading by example
  • Understand and participate in Prairie Machine’s Quality System - Identify and record non-conformities and participate in their resolution
  • Recommend improvements and develop improvement plans in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions
  • Maintain a well-organized and clean facility as per Prairie Machine vision
  • Maintain all equipment and tools per recommended procedures
  • Ability to work as a respectable, professional and efficient team member
  • Maintain a healthy work environment and develop employees on a professional level
  • Work underground at mine sites for extended assignments to work with field assembly contractors to provide guidance and planning
  • Participate and attend Meetings when required
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects and ideasFollow prescribed safety standards, rules and regulations

Qualification

  • Ability to work and make decisions independently
  • 8+ years of production experience
  • 5+ years of lead hand/supervisory experience
  • Strong organizational skills, team leader, strong attention to detail
  • Proficient with manufacturing drawing interpretation
  • Experience with ERP systems
  • Background in machining, welding or engineering

Compensation

  • Weekends - 3 x 12 hour shifts Friday - Sunday
  • Position pays approximately $80,000 to $110,000 yearly - salaries vary depending on various factors, such as skill, ability, experience and qualifications for the role
  • Weekend shifts are eligible for a $4/hr premium
  • Weekend shifts are also subject to an 11% hourly wage premium (work 36 hours and paid for 40 hours)
  • Overtime may be available

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $80,000.00-$110,000.00 per year
