Grape Growers of Ontario is seeking an energetic individual to join our team of professionals who work collaboratively for a Board of Directors member-based organization. Your communications and writing skills, coupled with analytical skills, and proficiency with excel, including post-secondary education along with agriculture-related experience are considered important attributes for this role. Grower Relations / System Analyst
This role manages GGO’s internal eGrape system which supports the collection of industry data, and simultaneously manages and works to enhance the growers’ day-to-day operations throughout Ontario. This position assists the organization’s Senior Policy Advisor with a direct report to the CEO.
Grower Relations
- Set up and contact new grape growers and processors in the internal eGrape system
- Work with new and existing growers on GPS mapping
- Build relationships with existing growers and processors
- Issue dealer licenses to eligible applicants
- Work with Farm Products Marketing Commission on issuing and renewing processor licences; maintain list of processor licences and renewal dates
- Provides ongoing educational opportunities for growers through regular communications, webinars
Grape Pricing
- Prepare background data and analysis for grape price negotiations, including wine sales data
Harvest – Lead staff contact for members during harvest, providing support on:
- Arranging sugar testing by organizing locations and refractometer calibration
- Order, disburse and support member requests for weigh bills
- Manage dispute protocols and work with Brock University on Third Party Testing
- Produce and provide winery reports
- Produce and provide grower reports
- Manage receipt of grower payments
- Develop annual Pre-Harvest Package for members that includes best practices, how-to guides, regulations and governance standards.
- Support both the internal and Industry Metrics Committees’ mandates: Meet with stakeholders from across the industry to discuss protocols related to brix testing, Volatile acidity (VA) testing, and other issues that may arise during harvest.
- Weather Network – Manage GGO’s real-time weather network across the province including 47 Davis stations.
- Weather station management
- Coordination with IT on data transfers
- Weather data downloads
- Analysis of data
Support GGO’s internal IT Committee’s mandate: Review and provide recommendations on technological updates for grower data as required.
eGrape
- Work with staff and external IT provider on eGrape overall program and module updates
- Maintain grower and processor database
- Manage grower and processor reports and payments during harvest
- Provide data for the organization’s Annual Report
GGO Website
- Work with staff on regular review and maintenance of website content
Sustainably Grown in Ontario – Act as GGO representative on Sustainable Winegrowing Ontario (SWO)Industry Committee which cultivates awareness, commitment, and leadership in sustainable winegrowing practices in Ontario.
- Actively participate on the SWO Communication Committee and SWO Website Committee
- Support GGO’s internal Sustainability Committee which feeds into the industry Committee
- Coordinate management of auditors.
- Manage surveys, audits, and certifications within the industry through eGrape.

Salary: $70,079.00-$72,449.00 per year
