The Ministry of Finance plays a key role in establishing, implementing and reviewing government’s economic, fiscal, financial management and taxation policies.
The Mineral, Oil and Gas Revenue Branch (MOGR) is responsible for the effective financial management and administration of the Mineral Tax Act, the Mineral Land Tax Act, the Petroleum and Natural Gas Royalty Act, Petroleum and Natural Gas Royalty and Freehold Production Tax Regulation, Net Profit Royalty Regulation, Oil and Gas Commission Levy and Orphan Well Tax, and the Mine Inspection Fee Directive. MOGR’s mandate is to calculate, verify, collect, and report the Crown royalties and freehold production taxes payable by the mining and petroleum industries and provides current and historical information on these revenues and responds to general enquiries related to them. The Branch also supports the Ministry of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation by providing information to support 20+ resource revenue sharing agreements with First Nations.
Under the direct supervision of the Manager, Natural Resource and Revenue Operations, the Team Lead, Policy and Revenue, is responsible for the planning, analysis, development and coordination of mineral taxation, mineral land taxation, oil and gas royalties, and the development and coordination of legislation, regulation and policy related to the responsibilities of the branch. The Team Lead is also responsible to assist with and lead special revenue administration projects.
Job Requirements:
- Degree in public administration, business administration, law, economics, social sciences, or related field and three (3) years of *related experience.
- Related experience must include:
- Experience researching policy issues and conducting policy analysis.
- Experience in the development of legislation, regulation and/or policy.
- Experience in planning and coordinating complex projects/assignments.
- Experience in concisely and persuasively writing a range of documents/content.
- Preference may be given to applicants with a Master’s degree in public administration, business administration, law, economics, social sciences, or related field.
