Sunshine Oilsands Ltd. is currently hiring for an experienced Field Operator to join the company's West Ells SAGD site. This is a 1 year contract position, working on a 14/14 rotation schedule with 12 hour workdays. We offer a full service camp and travel incentives.

Preference will be given to candidates with 3rd or 2nd Class Power Engineering Certificates.

The position will report to the Shift Engineer and/or designate. Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

• Participate in initial CS&U activities.
• Ensure all Sunshine’s safety requirements are met or exceeded.
• Provide operational input to plant operational efficiency initiatives.
• Learn the layout, purpose and operating parameters of each system.
• Utilize and develop training manuals, safe operating practices and procedures.
• Learn and qualify in all units/job classifications.
• Participate in team safety meetings and follow up on assigned items.
• Performing safe start‐up and shut down of equipment by following proper procedures.
• Performing regular testing on product and water samples.
• Performing safety checks on equipment, including conducting and completing safe work permits, reports and investigations.
• Ensuring equipment is safely isolated for maintenance work by following proper safe isolation procedures to ensure safe working environment.
• Promoting safety awareness
• Participate in planned inspections of the work areas.
• Troubleshooting equipment problems and initiating repair notifications.
• Reviews/prepares safe work documentation for day‐to‐day maintenance work.
• Assisting with special projects.
• Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILL SET:

• Minimum of a grade 12 diploma.
• 3rd Class Power Engineer Certificate with SAGD experience and preferably working towards their 2nd.
• Minimum of 5 years of industry related experience.
• Experience with Oil Processing such as Inlets, De-oiling, Chemicals, and Wells will be an asset.
• Mature, self‐motivated.
• Average computer skills.
• Strong analytical skills, capable of resolving problems independently.
• Ability to work and contribute in a team environment.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Possesses a valid Class 5 driver's license (a driver's abstract is required).
• Knowledge and familiarity with Sunshine Oilsands Ltd values, business vision, practices, processes and systems.
• Must be legally permitted to work in Canada.
