Summary:
This position is responsible for timely material procurement to meet planning requirements and maintain inventory levels within approved guidelines.
Main responsibilities:
- Release purchase orders to suppliers based upon MRP requirements.
- Update and coordinate with suppliers when planning changes occur to the MRP.
- Ensure materials availability by tracking and expediting deliveries.
- Identify and advise material availability issues along with contingency plans.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects as required.
- Analyze and maintain part order qualifier information in the MRP Part Master.
- Work with logistics to better incorporate traffic and customs policies and regulations to reduce cost impact on incoming freight, duties, and brokerage costs.
- Resolve Material Review Report (MRR) quality issues with internal Engineers and suppliers; arrange RGA with suppliers as needed.
- Manage Return to Stock (RTS) and invoicing issues.
- Action Specification Update Notices (SUN’s) and Specification Introduction Notices (SIN’s) as required. Ensure supplier manufactures to current configurations, documentations and data controls; update MRP data accordingly.
- Review and establish sub-contract and out-plant process standard costs.
- Work with Supplier and Supplier Quality to establish Production Part Approval Process requirements.
Qualifications and experience:
- Degree in Purchasing or Inventory Management.
- Minimum 3 years of experience with Materials Resources Planning (MRP) purchasing in a manufacturing environment.
- An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be considered.
- Strong problem solving and decision-making abilities.
- Well-developed organizational skills with the ability to manage a variety of tasks.
- Strong proficiency with MS Office programs including: Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and PowerPoint; and the ability to learn other applications quickly.
- Strong and effective negotiation skills.
- Solid knowledge and experience with inventory management, production systems.
- Familiar with Kanban and lean methods.
