Overview of role:

WestJet is seeking a Senior Coordinator reporting into our Accounts Payable team. This individual can demonstrate a high standard of excellence, enjoys challenges, and is results-driven. The incumbent must be highly motivated and demonstrate the ability to work in an agile environment.


The Senior Coordinator, Accounts Payable works with the Manager, Accounts Payable and team to support the daily operations of the WestJet Group payables. Operating in an environment of internal controls and compliance, the Senior Coordinator, Accounts Payable has a high level of expertise with AP best practices, Canadian tax and CSOX requirements. The role proactively initiates process improvements, procedural documentation, and training team members. The Senior Coordinator, Accounts Payable is a strong team player that is goal driven to contribute to individual, team and company success.


Key deliverables include:

  • Manages special invoice / handling as assigned, provides backup for invoice processing when required
  • Support Accounts Payable team with business unit and supplier escalations
  • Manage integrity reporting for AP month end close, including completion of balance sheet reconciliations
  • Monitors the status of invoices with AP team to support timely invoice payment
  • Prepares and distributes various compliance & governance reports to AP team and follow up for action
  • Payment run lead, including support to team to address payment issues (i.e., rejected payments, technical issues related to vendors or bank files)
  • Primary liaison for ERP – AP system functionality, issues management and upgrades
  • Deliver AP training to new team members
  • AP email folder management and support
  • Create and update process documentation
  • Explore to improve internal processes and procedures
  • Support project or initiatives as required

Experience & qualifications:

  • Minimum 3+ years’ experience full cycle AP
  • College diploma or university degree in accounting, finance, or related field
  • Experienced with ERP software and applications; JDE Oracle preferred
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft applications, advanced skills in Excel
  • Understanding of general accounting principles
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and self-motivation
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize competing demands
