Overview:
Reporting to the Global Sales Manager, the Market Development Manager is responsible for driving revenue, building and maintaining relationships with both existing customer sets and prospecting new clients. They will be accountable for ensuring profitable margins are maintained while increasing market share within an assigned territory.
Responsibilities:
- Proactively identifies opportunities and strategically presents CSL products with the sole purpose of increasing market share.
- Maintains detailed and advanced level understanding of their clients and prospects as well as their associated key competitive products including life cycles, pricing programs, and technology advantages.
- Thoughtful understanding of channel partnerships and ability to manage strategic alliances & identify the potential of white label opportunities.
- Understand your local market and potential client base and create a comprehensive sales plan to acquire new clients.
- Utilize your strong relationship building and networking skills to build connections, generate opportunities, and deliver bottom line results.
- Effective use of CRM program detailing weekly planned activities, quotes presented and pipeline maintenance.
- Disciplined in working with minimal supervision in servicing and growing assigned territory.
- Must possess a fearless ability and keen focus on prospecting new business.
- A minimum of 50 prospecting calls a week where the outcomes are noted and documented in CRM program.
- Detailed post travel reports providing the “who, what, where, when, why and outcome” of meetings held during out of town trips.
- Mandatory attendance to all sales meetings unless meeting dates correspond with travelling.
- Conduct annual meetings with large clients to assess account performance to better enable accuracy in completing forecasts.
- Monthly updating of weighted percentages against initial annual forecast and revise against assigned budgets.
- The Market Development Manager will work in tandem with their assigned Project Manager. Once a P.O. is received from the client, the MDM steps aside for the PM to manage the sale. The Project Manager will be responsible for running quotes for the MDM to present to the client. The PM will handle day to day communication with the existing clients to provide the necessary time for the MDM to focus on new business attainment.
- Key point of contact for all new projects and strategic growth initiatives with the clients.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree or post-secondary education in engineering, sales, marketing, business or related field.
- Post Secondary education in Chemistry or related field would be an asset.
- 5+ years Commercial Sales or equivalent experience required.
- Solid experience in product or strategic sales environment.
- Self motivated and results driven.
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in a complex matrixed organization.
