Job Description
The Manufacturing Support Technologist manages drawing exchange format files with vendors and provides support to the machine shop for CAD/CAM and process specification. Provides specific technological support to the machine shop, planning and purchasing to ensure timely and cost-effective manufacturing.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage the execution of the drawing exchange file format process
- Prepare file packages for procurement on a timely basis
- Develop and maintain machine shop process documentation
- Select and specify relevant machining parameters of tooling
- Evaluate manufacturing methods and procedures for quality and cost effectiveness
- Remain informed of technological developments
- Display flexibility and creativity in dealing with scheduling and other complex issues
- Initiate change orders on drawings utilizing computer programs such as Inventor, Vault Manufacturing, and AutoCAD

- Follow prescribed safety standards, rules and regulations, ensuring all workers comply
- Instill a safety culture; lead by example
- Identify and record non-conformities and participate in their resolution
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives
- Recommend improvements and develop improvement plans in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions
- Maintain a well-organized and clean facility as per Prairie Machine vision
- Maintain all equipment and tools per recommended procedures
- Maintain a healthy work environment and develop employees on a professional level
Qualifications
- CAD/CAM Technologist Diploma or minimum 5 years of relevant experience as a Machinist
- Experience working with 2D and 3D modelling software
Additional Qualifications that would be considered an asset
- Experience with Autodesk Inventor, Autodesk Vault, Simco and/or Epicor ERP
- Experience with CAD/CAM integration
- Experience with steel forming, cutting, welding, machining, and/or manufacturing
Compensation
- Salaries vary depending on various factors, such as skill, ability, experience and qualifications for the role
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: $26.00-$40.00 per hour
