Labour Foreperson Job at Onni Group

We have an opportunity for a Skilled Labourer/Foreperson to help manage a team of laborers and sub-contractors for a large mix-use development Onni is building in Pitt Meadows. This position will be responsible for assisting the Superintendent with duties including making sure the crew shows up to work on time, training, and directing the crew. Organizational and administrative duties involve reading and following sketches and blueprints and coordinating with subcontractors to ensure project completion.

Job Description:

Duties:

  • Coordinate with trade contractors and ensure they progress according to the project schedule
  • Familiarize yourself with the blueprints in order to foresee problems and minimize the schedule & financial impacts
  • Ensure project materials and workmanship meet project quality standards
  • Ensure that all staff and contractors maintain a safe working environment according to company policies
  • Document the construction process and keep all parties informed on important issues
  • Perform any manual labor (clean up, sweeping, packing materials, etc.)
  • Organize areas
  • General construction maintenance
  • All other duties assigned by Project Managers/Site Superintendent

Summary of Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Basic carpentry skills (year 2 equivalent)
  • Small tool skills and the ability to teach others how to use Safley
  • supervisory of other labourers
  • Leadership skills and have to work well in a team
  • Forklift ticket/machine skills
  • Minimum 2 years of commercial construction experience
  • Knowledge of BC Building Code and attention to detail an asset
  • Proven performance in leadership and managing both people and construction sites
  • Demonstrated effective communication and team-building skills
  • Minimum 2 years of commercial construction experience
