Director of Software Development - $140,000

Blue Sky Booking has been a part of the West Coast aviation and tourism industry since 2001, serving Vancouver’s iconic airlines Harbour Air Seaplanes and HeliJet through our reservation and sales distribution services. We are looking for a talented and energetic person to join our team as Director of Software Development, based in North Vancouver.

You have strong technical ownership, architectural skills, and a desire to assume a key position at a company with tremendous growth potential.

Key responsibilities:

• Analyze business problems and inefficiencies of our airline clients and help formulate technology solutions in collaboration with the leadership team.
• Translate business requirements into technical solutions, recommend alternative technical and business approaches, and lead engineering efforts to meet aggressive timelines with optimal solutions.
• Be responsible for the overall development life cycle of the solution and manage complex projects with significant bottom-line impact.
• Contribute to the development of the best technical design and approach for new product development.
• Instill best practices for software development and documentation, assure designs meet requirements, and deliver high-quality work on tight schedules.
• Project management, including prioritization, planning of projects and features, stakeholder management, and tracking of external commitments.
• Monitor production services.
• Coordinate critical service and feature upgrades with stakeholders, notify relevant departments for seamless customer experiences.
• Create, monitor, and ensure compliance with the chosen development model, organize standups at appropriate intervals.

Requirements:

If you do not exactly meet the following requirements, we still welcome your application:

• BSc/BA in Computer Science or a related degree.
• Experience in leading strong engineering teams.
• Knowledge of professional software engineering best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, documentation, and operations.
• Proficiency in Agile development methodologies.
• Software Development experience with a background in C#, .NET, jQuery, HTML/CSS, MVC, Windows Forms, Windows Applications, SQL Server/Azure.
