Business Analyst, Software Solutions Job at Encepta
*Role Summary*
Encepta is looking to grow its Client Tools Department! The Business Analyst is the latest opportunity to join our growing team at Encepta. This area of our Software Solutions team blends business and client-focused analysis and optimization with traditional software development, coding and programming.
The Business Analyst will be an internal resource who understands the business, and caters to internal and external client needs from a software solution perspective. This is an intermediate level position, and the successful candidate will also take on mentoring/teaching more junior members of the team.
We are looking for candidates that can perform the above while representing Encepta’s core values and leading as a role model for the team. The successful candidate will demonstrate their ability to perform the role through their past education, background, and experience. The ideal candidate will be able to start in May 2023.
*Duties and Responsibilities:*
- Confirm project requirements by reviewing program objective, input data, and output requirements with analysts and supervisors;
- Work on tools and software enhancements for programs and projects;
- Independently delivers software solutions using sound software development practices, and driving the end-to-end delivery process from requirements through development, testing and deployment;
- Assess business needs by gathering scope and requirements, implement impactful solutions within budget and client expectations;
- Act as a point contact for a project or program owner to implement software or process improvements
- Design and implement intermediate or complex software solutions and provides integral software pieces for large projects and programs;
- Highlight areas of improvement and best practices for Encepta’s corporate IT strategy and product roadmap for our client-facing and internal software and other technology solutions;
- Develop quality assurance procedures, QA’s other programmers work, and resolve software bugs and issues;
- Create and monitor version control systems;
- Create technical and user documentation for tools and processes;
- Provide coaching to others to help the team effectively deliver projects;
- Teach or host technical sessions with team members and non-technical colleagues;
- Support operations managers with software solutions and business analytics;
- Support business strategy with data;
- Analyze, design, implement, and test computer software codes;
- Encode project requirements by converting work flow into automated processes;
- Integrate software tools and data using API or other interfaces;
- Design and carry out user acceptance testing;
- Maintain historical records by documenting program development and revisions;
- Troubleshoot malfunctions; calling for repairs; evaluating new techniques;
- Assist with IT tasks as assigned by supervisors;
- Perform fielding audits and testing, supporting the operations teams;
- Research and development of new processes and technology, review professional publications;
- Liaise and collaborate while representing Encepta to clients and external parties;
- Uphold and promote adherence to Training, Operating and Health and Safety Procedures;
- Aid fielding activities on occasion;
- Some travel may be required;
- Other duties as required.
*Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:*
- 3-5 years of experience in a software/programmer related role or equivalent education / co-op experience (telecom exposure an asset, not required);
- Recent University/College/Technical School Graduate or CO-OP Student preferred or equivalent combination of experience and training;
- Display knowledge & skills or equivalent expertise in programming and computer science at an high level of competency;
- Demonstrate advanced knowledge and application of software development;
- Experience integrating or update applications and utilizing APIs;
- Ability to understand and translate user requirements into functional solutions;
- Ability to provide daily support, expertise, and liaise with team and external stakeholders when needed;
- Ability to resolve software issues and coding bugs with minimal supervision;
- Knowledge of and ability to perform advanced operations within database environments;
- Intermediate level understanding and application of industry specifications and standards;
- Experience working with Google Suite (Gmail, Google Meet, Google Sheets, Google Drive) or equivalent Microsoft apps;
- Ability to be resourceful and research existing and new approaches to completing work;
- Strong problem solving skills and the ability to think things through to arrive at a solution;
- Organized, time conscious and focused on results;
- Ability to manage multiple, ongoing project tasks;
- Ability to work efficiently on time sensitive projects with changing deliverables and priorities;
- Team player with well-developed interpersonal skills who is comfortable in a cross-functional, diverse team environment;
- Courteous and approachable customer service approach to internal and external stakeholders.
