Position: Community Education Coordinator
Reports to: Youth Campus Coordinator/ Youth Services Director
Position Function:
Provides Youth Services and direction in delivering comprehensive educational programs designed to increase high school academic achievement and access to post-secondary education. The Community Education Coordinator is responsible for working with staff and volunteers to implement all aspects of educational services, including management of the Raise The Grade program and supporting Youth Campus educational needs
Organization Summary:
The Community Education Coordinator is part of the Youth Services Team and reports directly to the Youth Services Director.
Working Relationships: The Community Education Coordinator works with each member of the Youth Services team to deliver high-quality services at the BGC Lethbridge. The Community Education Coordinator is encouraged to understand the roles and responsibilities of each member of the Youth Services team and each team member. The Community Education Coordinator works collaboratively with all personnel and provides support and guidance when necessary and appropriate.
Work Performed:
- Develop, implement and evaluate education programs
- Collaborate with BGCC Senior Manager, and participate in teleconferences to share best practices, development strategies, and training resources
- Maintain and monitor program supplies and equipment
- Prepare reports for Executive Director and appropriate funding partners as required
- Manage program volunteers
- Establish and maintain relationships with school teachers, principals, and guidance counselors
- Develop and maintain relationships with external organizations that provide support, and advice to academic initiatives
- Collect, maintain and monitor data related to program implementation and impact
- Recruit/Management of program participants and volunteers
- Manage assigned program staff
- Adhere to all Club policies and procedures
Minimum Qualifications:
- University degree in education or social services, or a related discipline or equivalent experience related to youth-serving organizations.
- Strong background in managing educational programs for youth
- Experience with program evaluation, data collection management, and monitoring
- Previous experience in delivering education programs supporting children and youth
- Strong understanding of and ability in educational technology, internet applications, and social media
- Knowledge of educational programming and youth development, program evaluation and outcome measurement, event planning, and marketing, as well as experience within the voluntary sector and/or human services environment
- Clear Criminal Record and Child Intervention Checks
- CPR/First-Aid
- Class 4 Drivers License
Performance Indicators:
- Contributes to positive staff morale
- Provides tutors and mentors a clear understanding of their tasks and program plans for effective implementation of daily activities
- Demonstrates an ability to plan in accordance with specific funding and outcome requirements (Grants, Program Budget, etc.)
- Programs have clear objectives and outcome measures
- Youth are engaged in the programming and participate effectively with others
- Youth provide positive feedback regarding programming
- Completes tasks and assignments on time and in line with expectations
Expectations:
- Works according to the posted schedule, which may include evenings and weekends.
- Ensures the program outcomes are being met and evaluated regularly
- Ensures program delivery and administration meet program needs.
- Ensures all volunteers are performing according to the expectations of their position and that they have the proper documentation and training to do their jobs effectively.
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $45,000.00-$48,000.00 per year
