What You Will Get To Do

By effectively building positive rapport and relationships both internally and externally, the successful candidate will help us achieve our mission that together we deliver services that make a difference in our community.
Reporting to, and under the direction of, the Supervisor of Parks Development, the Summer Student will be responsible for assisting with some or all of the following:
- Conducting background research to support the preparation of the Parks and Recreation Master Plan and the implementation, and monitoring off the Culture, Parks, Recreation and Open Space Master Plan and other major strategic planning studies and emerging issues in the department;
- Responsible for the collection of data both in house and in the field while ensuring consistency and quality of the data is maintained throughout the collection process;
- Verify existing data for quality assurance and correcting erroneous data as necessary;
- Provide drawings and reports from the collected and existing data as required; and,
- Other duties as assigned.

What You Bring To Our Team
- full-time student in Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture, Integrated Planning Technology or GIS
- working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook,) ArcGIS and AutoCAD; and,
- a valid Ontario driver’s license maintained in good standing, with access to a personal vehicle.
What We Offer You
$19.25 - $21.42 per hour
Students must be currently enrolled in and attending a post-secondary institution on a full-time basis (students will be required to provide proof) for the 2022/2023 school year and be returning to a post-secondary institution on a full-time basis in September 2023;
Students selected must be available to commence summer employment as early as May 1, 2023 and commit to working through to, and including, September 1, 2023.

Hours: Monday – Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (approximately 35 hours per week)
