VP of Finance Job at MBRP Ltd.
Role Summary:
The VP Finance will provide leadership, direction and management to the finance and accounting team. This will include managing the processes for financial forecasting and budgets, and overseeing the preparation of all the financial reporting. The VP Finance will advise the Senior Management team, the CEO and the board on long-term business, strategy and financial planning. This seasoned strategist not only understands current accounting practices and trends but has proven experience managing diverse capital providers and adapting to change. As a member of our senior management, he or she will be comfortable in a leadership role that demands clear communication and presentation skills.
Job Specific Duties:
- Responsible, either directly or by managing staff, for all accounting, cash management, investments, insurance, budgeting, cost accounting, and financial reporting, helping to drive the company’s profit and cash flow improvements
- Coordinate the development and maintenance of the annual operating, capital, and program budgets, and reporting against the same monthly
- Ensure cash flow is compatible with company operations by overseeing the day-to-day accounting, recording, reporting, and internal control activities of the organization
- Lead the development and use of best-practice policies, practices, and tools that ensure a well-controlled yet flexible organization with strong fiscal management, project management, cross team communications and workflow
- Comply with federal and provincial financial requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing compliance, and taking action
- Manage the external and internal audit processes
Responsibilities:
- Work with the senior management to efficiently develop budgets, provide access to project finance information, and manage contract/grant compliance and reporting
- Research revenue opportunities and economic trends, analyze internal operations, cost assumptions, identify areas of cost reduction and process enhancement, and work with responsible manager/director to improve results
- Perform risk management through analysis of company liabilities and investments, and evaluate and manage capital structure, fundraising initiatives, and investor relations
- Monitor performance with tracking, establish corrective measures as needed, and prepare detailed reports, both actual and forecasted for investor and board meetings, bank meetings, the management team, and the rest of the company
- Manage finance and accounting team
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, tax, banking and legal requirements
Experience:
- Professional designation (e.g., CPA) in accounting, business accounting, or finance, Master’s degree optional
- 5+ years of experience in finance leadership positions
- Strong leadership skills, with steadfast resolve and personal integrity, and ability to work well with peers at director level
- Exceptional verbal, written, and visual communication skills
- Understanding of advanced accounting, regulatory issues, and tax planning
- Managing Information Technology a plus.
