Job Summary
Reporting to the Manager, Facilities Services, this role will lead the Energy, Fleet and Facilities Divisional Security team and will be responsible for security operations at all Regional and Halton Community Housing Corporation facilities that fall within the Divisional portfolio.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a security team that conducts both daily security operations and security based capital projects
- Growing the capabilities and effectiveness of the security team
- Co-ordinate security services at Region owned and/or operated properties through the supervision of both Regional and contracted staff
- Manage the maintenance and enhancement of various security systems throughout Halton Region’s facilities
- Collaborate with and assist other departments on all security related items; prepares reports and records as required
- Develop, implement and maintain standard operating procedures for security operations
- Maintain and implement Corporate security plans along with respective Divisional and Departmental policies and procedures
- Build and maintain a database of all new and existing site security systems, incorporating a schedule for regular site inspections to ensure services meet Regional policies, standards and legislation
- Facilitates the planning, research, development, coordination and implementation of new strategic security projects
- Plans, establishes, coordinates and acts as the liaison with other Regional Departments to determine their initial budget, project milestones and program needs for security projects; develops security programs and design criteria for Regional projects on behalf of the client
- Works effectively as the lead of the Energy, Fleet & Facilities Security team, fosters a cooperative group effort
- Maintains effective interpersonal relations and communications with colleagues, Regional staff, the public and politicians
- Always presents themselves in a professional, knowledgeable and conscientious manner
- Actively contribute to the achievement of Divisional goals and work effectively within a team based environment
- Provide quality customer service through effective communications, a positive personal image and attitude and a focus on continuous improvement
- Performs other duties as assigned
Skills & Qualifications
Essential
- A security based degree or equivalent.
- The successful candidate will have a minimum of five (5) years of security management experience. Knowledge of security practices, terminology and understanding of relevant regulations is essential.
- Must have computer literacy and be competent in the use of Microsoft Office.
- Must have strong problem solving skills and be able to multi-task and manage a security team that supports multiple portfolios.
- Must have effective interpersonal communication skills and be committed to working in a team-based environment with a focus on continuous improvement, team building and quality customer service.
Preferred
- Holding a Certified Security Project Manager (CSPM), Associate Protection Professional (APP), Physical Security Professional (PSP) or and Certified Protection Professional (CPP) certification is an asset.
- Solid background in team management, presentation and communication skills, preparing of specifications and use of security systems will be a strong asset to the candidate.
- Military or policing experience, as well as experience within Municipal organizations would be beneficial.
- Experience in the preparation of forecasting budgets, managing capital projects and project management is an asset.
Working/ Employment Conditions
Current (obtained within the past six (6) months), original and acceptable Criminal Records Check, by the first day of employment.
Must provide a copy of driver’s license by the first day of employment.
