Rate of Pay: $16 - $22 per hour. The scale of compensation is variable and reflective of site contracts. Please note some of our sites are unionized work environments.
Working Hours: Rotating 8 and 12-hour shifts, various hours/days of the week. This includes full-time, part-time, casual and seasonal positions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
While duties vary by assignment, the responsibilities of this role may include, but are not limited to:
Protecting people, property, and information
Conducting on-foot perimeter and search patrols (indoors and outdoors)
Monitoring and responding to alarm and security systems
Ensuring the health and safety of self and others in the workplace
Adhering to CGL's Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality policies, systems, and practices (and those of the clients we serve)
Respecting CGL employment and workplace policies, site work Instructions, and site supervisor's direction
Other functions may include patrolling, reception/administration, reporting, emergency management and access control.
Eligibility Requirements:
Must be at least 19 years of age
Be a Permanent Resident of Canada or a Canadian Citizen;
No criminal record (or no criminal record for which a pardon has not been granted);
Be able to provide fingerprints and complete a criminal record check;
Be eligible to apply for Government of Canada personnel security screening; and
Be able to communicate effectively in English (bilingual would be considered an asset).
Required Education, Qualifications and Experience:
Must have a secondary school diploma
Valid Ontario Security Guard License
Valid First Aid and CPR certificate
The ability to work alone while maintaining a high level of service to the client is essential
Effective customer services/reception/administrative skills
Good understanding of computers
