Position Overview: The Sales & Donation Centre Associate contributes to the generation of revenue in support of various CCS programs and activities by assisting in safe and efficient Retail and Donation Centre Operations and in creating a customer friendly environment.

Position Deliverables/Accountabilities:

Under the leadership of the Manager, Retail Operations (or designate) the incumbent will:

Retail

  • Welcome and serve shoppers in a friendly and helpful manner, including conducting cash transactions in accordance with Retail Operations procedures;
  • Provide efficient and accurate checkout service; Responsible for accurate end-of-day POS processes and investigating any discrepancies with the assistance of the Sales Keyholder;
  • Promote upcoming sales or special events;
  • Maintain orderly sales floor, dressing rooms and check out areas;
  • Price and replenish merchandise;
  • Answer telephone and customer enquiries in a professional manner.

Donation Centre

  • Welcome donors and assist them with their donations;
  • Safely lift and maneuver boxes and bags of donated items up to 30 kilos;
  • Sort through donations and evaluate items for quality and condition;
  • Price items according to established guidelines;
  • Meet assigned production targets for each shift;
  • Place clothing on hangers and items on racks, distribute to the appropriate area on the sales floor.

General

· Assist with opening and / or closing procedures;

· Assist Retail Lead and Keyholder with achieving / exceeding sales targets;

· Assist Donations Centre Lead and Keyholder with achieving / exceeding production targets;

· Consistently ensure and provide superior customer service;

· Cross train and fill in at either site as operational needs dictate;

· Assist in the orientation of youth and volunteer workers, ensuring they have the required information and knowledge to perform their roles safely and effectively;

· Maintain overall store and personal workspace / equipment cleanliness and sanitizing along with co-workers while using provided PPE;

· Participate in regular mandatory staff meetings and trainings as required;

· Other duties as required.

Summary of Qualifications:

· Must have a minimum High School or equivalent;

· Previous experience working in a retail/thrift environment, preferably in receiving, pricing or merchandising an asset;Cash register experience an asset;

· Knowledge of the Not for Profit Sector is an asset;

· Knowledge of collectibles an asset; Understanding of retail trends an asset;

· Effective Communicator; Excellent verbal communication skills and comfortable interacting with the public;

· Strong initiative to proactively meet customer needs; Friendly and open demeanor;

· Courteous, attentive and responsive to customers; Passionate about helping others;

· Team-oriented manner and committed to working with a team to build a great customer experience;

· Good oral and written English;

· Eye for detail; Dependability;

· Possess the ability to learn and follow procedures for cash handling, pricing, sorting and merchandising.
