Position Summary


The Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs Secretariat office is recruiting for a Project Manager. Reporting to First Nations Family Advocate, the Project Manager is responsible for seeking a safe, accessible, and affordable property to establish a Reunification Home for First Nations families involved in the provincial Child and Family Services (CFS) system. The Project Manager will develop a business plan, budget, oversee and document all aspects of the project by working with the First Nations Family Advocate Office (FNFAO) management.


Key Responsibilities


  • Actively seek and identify property and funding opportunities to establish a Reunification Home for First Nations families.
  • Write, edit, and develop a comprehensive business plan to establish a Reunification Home on behalf of the First Nations Family Advocate Office within the established timeline.
  • Manage scope of work for the project including tracking timelines, objectives, and deliverables.
  • Meet with FNFAO staff to gather key information on the needs of First Nations clients.
  • Convey economic and social research and concepts in a clear and effective manner that supports the need for safe and affordable housing.
  • Identify potential risks and create mitigation plans for establishing a Reunification Home.
  • Prepare presentations for First Nations leadership and other key stakeholders.
  • Liaise with community organizations and partners to coordinate future service delivery for families.
  • Examine potential business opportunities that would further enhance the capacity of the Reunification Home for the benefit of families.
  • Conduct and/or develop assessments to create an effective budget to sustain long-term housing support and additional in-house programming at the Reunification Home.
  • Support and inform the development of an Operation Plan including preparing policies and procedures for the Reunification Home once secured.
  • Perform work in a culturally responsive manner that is consistent with the FNFAO.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • College certificate, diploma or degree in business administration, business management, project and/or operations management, finance administration, social services, urban planning, or urban studies or a closely related field.
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in project management and proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget and timeline.
  • Demonstrated competence with program coordination, including but not limited to training, public speaking, facilitation, collaboration, detailed program planning and timely implementation.
  • Experience working with First Nations.
  • Knowledge of First Nations culture, history, treaty and inherent rights.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Adherence to standard office practices, procedures and confidentiality.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and travel upon request.
  • A valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
