Why You?

We are looking for a dynamic and forward-thinking leader to join the InnServices team as the Manager, Health, Safety and Environment! In this role, you will champion InnServices’ Health and Safety program, and promote a culture of safe work practices aligned with our Corporate strategic initiatives through the review and enhancement of policies, safe work procedures, education, safety training, and safety programs.

You will provide subject matter expertise on health and safety inquiries, enhance standardized health and safety initiatives and processes across service areas, and will be responsible for:

• Leading risk hazard assessments and supporting service area Leaders and employees in meeting legislated health and safety requirements.
• Managing the review and enhancement of the Corporate Health and Safety program, policies, processes, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and Safe Work Practices (SWP’s), in line with legislative requirements.
• Overseeing gap analysis safety training programs, ensuring safety sensitive positions have met/exceeded safety training standards.
• Managing all Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) claims and return to work programs.
• Acting as a key advisor and proactive resource to the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC), participating in meetings, site visit/inspections and accident investigations.

The ideal candidate holds:

• Post-secondary degree or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety or suitable equivalent.
• Minimum of five (5) years of demonstrated occupational Health & Safety experience, including conducting Health and Safety training; with a minimum of one (1) to two (2) years managerial / supervisory experience in a unionized environment.
• Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation, or in process of obtaining, would be an asset. OR Certified Registered Safety Technician (CRST) designation.
• Certification as JHSC Level 1 & 2 certification required and Certified Train the Trainer on various Health and Safety related topics (i.e., Working at Heights, WHMIS, Lockout, and Confined Space Awareness, etc.)
• Health and Safety experience in a Water, Wastewater, municipal or utility service sector or similar would be an asset.
• G Class Driver’s License in good standing and reliable vehicle to use for travel/site visits throughout InnServices and for us on corporate business.
• Availability to attend evening and/or weekend meetings or other events; and to respond to major emergencies as required.
