The Department of Highways and Public Works has a GradCorps opportunity for a Junior Purchasing Officer. Working in conjunction with Purchasing Officers, the Junior Purchasing Officer will place purchase orders, help create tender documents and submit through bids and tenders. The Junior Purchasing Officer will assist Purchasing Officers to prepare, coordinate, and execute procurement activities for Yukon government departments in accordance with Yukon government’s procurement policies, guidelines, and procedures.
This position will work for a one-year Term from approximately May 2023 to April 2024. The salary will be 80% of the starting salary - $51,466

Essential Qualifications

- Diploma in Business Administration, Public Administration, Supply Chain Management or related field.
- Experience providing administrative support is an asset.
- Experience with procurement is an asset.

- Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task
- Excellent communication skills including written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and as a contributing team member;
- Analytical and research skills.
NOTE: To qualify for the GradCorps program, you must:
- be a resident of Yukon or a person of Yukon First Nations ancestry*
- have graduated with a diploma or degree from a recognized post-secondary institution within the past two years (2021, 2022 or 2023 grads – all requirements for graduation must be complete before internship start date)
- have little or no work experience in your field of study
- If you are a resident of Yukon who completed your studies outside of the territory, you may apply up two years after graduation.
