Alamos Gold’s Island Gold is one of Canada’s highest grade and lowest cost gold mines. This underground operation is located just east of the town of Dubreuilville, 83 kilometres northeast of Wawa in Northern Ontario. Through ongoing exploration success, Island Gold’s Mineral Reserves and Resources have continued to grow in size and quality, and Alamos is now investing in a major expansion project which is expected to transform Island into one of the largest and most profitable mines in Canada with an 18-year mine life. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all data collected from the exploration and compilation programs is reviewed and validated before submission to DBA / GIS administrators.
  • Work with site and corporate staff for outstanding data and documents to be completed and uploaded to the server/cloud folder.
  • Ensure server/cloud folders are organized and contain current information.
  • Prepare and maintain spatial products such Maps, Sections and 3D projects when required (ArcGIS, Micromine and Leapfrog).
  • Perform Quality Assurance/Quality Control for data as a technical reviewer;
  • Work with the Exploration DBA and GIS Administrators to ensure the correct adoption of applications at site;

Researching and compiling historic exploration and government geoscience information; Provide software and data support to site staff;

  • Prepare site training to users
  • Supporting the corporate Geo-Information Group as required.
  • Other related duties as required.

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience in a similar role (4 years+);
  • Professional background in Geology or a related discipline;
  • Requires knowledge of Mineral Exploration workflows (Field Sampling/Mapping, Core Logging, Drafting, Laboratory analysis, QAQC);
  • Must have strong proficiency with ArcMAP and/or ArcGIS Pro;
  • Must have experience working Acquire, Micromine and Leapfrog;
  • Knowledge of SharePoint, ArcGIS Online and Imago are considered assets;
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, strong attention to detail and strong analytical skills;
  • An ability to communicate and work effectively with other employees and contractors using tact, courtesy, and good judgment;
  • Some field experience in mineral exploration is preferred;
  • ESRI Technical Certifications may be given additional consideration.

This position will be based at Island Gold Mine, near Dubreuilville, Ontario and will work a 14/14 rotation schedule. Travel, room and board will be provided at the Company's expense.
