What you’ll do
- Plan, develop and conduct advanced epidemiological and/or biostatistical surveillance and research studies for PSBC databases. Carry out data analysis of the PSBC databases.
- Write, develop and edit comprehensive reports and reporting products, including design, compilation, synthesis, dissemination and evaluation.
- Collaborate in the planning, design, development of local and/or regional perinatal and obstetrical health analysis and surveillance projects. Contribute expertise to the development of epidemiological projects including methodologies, approaches and models. Participate in provincial and national perinatal health initiatives as appropriate. Establishe consultation networks with relevant stakeholders.
- Synthesize and promote the utilization of research findings through knowledge translation strategies. Establishe and monitor appropriate knowledge translation and evaluation frameworks (outcome measures and quality assurance strategies) in cooperation with Provincial Leads, Provincial Medical Directors and provincial partners.
- Initiate and participate in quality improvement and knowledge translation initiatives and provide support for the development of outreach education initiatives aligned with organizational, provincial, and program priorities. Teach, facilitate and coordinate outreach initiatives.
What you bring
- A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Masters degree in Epidemiology, Public Health, Health Information Sciences or another relevant discipline, plus a minimum of three (3) years related recent experience.
You will have
- Thorough knowledge of epidemiological principles, research methodologies, health surveillance, health indicator development and management, and biostatistical techniques are required.
- Strong research, analytic and communication skills.
- Knowledge of public health surveillance systems and data resources relevant to area of expertise.
- Ability to identify and analyze, trends and changes in disease and corresponding risk factors, contributory factors, incidence and prevalence rates, outcomes and other relevant epidemiological measures.
- Experience with large administrative and/or clinical datasets an asset, as well as proficiency with software such as Microsoft Office, SPSS, SAS, and GIS.
- Communication, including report writing and presentation of findings, and organizational skills to collaborate in a multidisciplinary environment on research and surveillance planning required.
- Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
- As a strong asset for consideration, we are looking for our successful candidate to have: Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities impacting indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports (BC DRIPA, TRC, etc.).

Job Type: Regular, Full-time
Salary Range: $80,935 - $116,344.
The starting salary for this position would be determined with consideration of the successful candidate’s relevant education and experience, and would be in alignment with the provincial compensation reference plan. Salary will be prorated accordingly for part time roles.
