Prima Contracting is a General Contractor that participates in all facets of construction including residential, commercial, and retail buildings, including Tenant Improvements. Given our growth plans, we are seeking a Site Supervisor for a Mixed-Use Residential building in the Salmon Arm area. Currently, the company operates in Calgary and the Okanagan Valley. He/she will drive growth in accordance with operational and financial objectives, and ensure cost, quality, and schedule is maintained on all projects. This is a permanent position with the projects sites being located in and around the Vernon area. Prima's head office is based in Kelowna.

Must haves:

  • Knowledge of the BC Building Code
  • 15 Years experience multi story construction
  • A strong awareness of the cost implications of design alternatives
  • Ability to deliver construction projects on schedule and within budget
  • Be a Canadian citizen, or have Permanent Resident status
  • Level 2 First Aid Certified

What you will do:

  • Must be dependable, hard working and a team player
  • Experience in Construction, both Commercial and Residential, Framing, Formwork, Rough & Finish Carpentry, etc.
  • The reviewing of site purchase orders and CCDC Contracts to ensure that the applicable requirements are met
  • Hands On finishing carpentry work and general labor
  • Deciding what goods, services and equipment are needed and scheduled
  • Researching and identifying solutions to schedule or quality
  • Ensuring suppliers deliver on time
  • Advising on key final decisions on what to buy before building work can get started
  • The control of on site and off-site vendor inspectors
  • The coordination and resolution of any nonconforming product Reviewing vendors QA/QC
  • The attendance at site and inspection procurement meetings
  • Ensure the verification of documentation and certificates for materials purchased by vendors
  • Review of suppler quality plans against contract requirements
  • Review procurement documents to ensure that quality requirement have been correctly translated into purchase requisitions and design documents
  • Managing work on-site to ensure the compliance of construction with the drawings and specifications
  • Support the project manager and project owner t in planning and implementing schedules, determining manpower levels, material quantities, inspections, equipment, and requirements are maintained
  • Monitor work performance to ensure project rules, procedures, and safety requirements are being followed
  • Advise the Project Manager of potential problems, work interferences, and schedule difficulties and assist in resolving these problems
  • Coordinate with the project manager or owner’s representative on all procurement issues

  • Must work outdoors and indoors in different weather conditions and on varying terrain

Physical Requirements

  • Lift and carry tools, equipment, supplies and materials (< 1-53-kg) at the work site or shop (< 5 to 200 meters)
  • Lift, carry, hold and operate hand, air and power tools (< 1 to 53-kg) from below grade to above shoulder
  • Walk and stand for long periods throughout the day
  • Stand at work site on grass, dirt, rock, asphalt, concrete, carpet linoleum, wood, etc.
  • Bend, stoop, kneel, crawl to perform carpentry tasks for construction
  • Work from below feet to above shoulder height to perform carpentry tasks
  • Climb step and extension ladders, scaffolding, bucket truck

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $36.00-$45.00 per hour
