Reporting to the Manager, Office of Respect and Inclusion, the Respectful Workplace Advisor will be responsible for receiving respectful workplace concerns from employees of the Calgary Police Service to ensure that we work towards creating and sustaining a respectful, accessible, equitable, diverse, and inclusive police service. The Respectful Workplace Advisor will champion efforts that support a workplace that is free of bullying, harassment, racism, and discrimination, where everyone feels that they are safe and that they belong. The position will assist in the development and implementation of training and learning opportunities to improve the organizational response to disclosures and recommend and advocate for change in current processes to better support workplace complaints and processes. Primary duties include:
  • Manage the response to internal respectful workplace policy concerns.
  • Develop, implement, monitor, evaluate and refine training and learning resources in the workplace as they relate to bullying, harassment, racism and discrimination.
  • Engage with internal groups to identify gaps, barriers, and solutions to reporting incidents and make recommendations for improvements in policies, processes, etc.
  • Build capacity and awareness with leadership and staff to prevent bullying, harassment, racism and discrimination in the workplace.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and support for leaders who are addressing disclosures and fostering a culture where such behaviours are not tolerated.
  • Track and report trends in conflict and conflict resolution and advise on approaches to mitigate concerns in a proactive manner where possible.
Qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 5 years experience in organizational change and culture, social sciences, conflict resolution, workplace investigations, human rights work.
  • Certifications in mediation, conflict resolution and coaching would be considered an asset.
  • Experience in applying an intersectional lens to issues is preferred.
  • Strong facilitation, analytical and relationship building skills.
  • Success in this position requires analytical thinking, change management, coaching and development, communication, efficiency and thoroughness, focus on results and relationship building.

Compensation: Pay Grade 12 $44.20 – 59.09 per hour (2023 rates)
Days of Work: This position works a 5 day
work week with/earning 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.


Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
