Hood Packaging is currently recruiting for a Millwright for our Calgary Plastics Division.

As a key member of the maintenance department, the successful candidate will be responsible for duties related to trouble-shooting machine breakdowns, implementing root cause repairs, preventative maintenance, and machinery modifications. Equipment & machinery includes but not limed to film extrusion lines, printing presses, converting equipment and ancillary systems. Millwrights work on high-speed machinery, robotics, pneumatics, and hydraulics, as well as perform general building maintenance. Works safely at all times, keeps work area clean and ensures that day-to-day operations run smoothly and efficiently. Provide mentorship to production operators relative to equipment maintenance and troubleshooting. Assist the continuous improvement process by providing feedback and ideas. Manage daily workload and priorities as well as other duties as assigned

The successful candidate must have:

  • High school diploma or its equivalent
  • Completion of Millwright trade certification (mandatory)
  • Red seal certification is preferred
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience (ideally in a manufacturing environment)
  • Proficient in English language - speak, write, read and comprehend
  • Availability for a shift rotation and overtime when required
  • Ability to work independently without supervision and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to read blueprints, diagrams, and schematic drawings to determine work procedures
  • Computer literacy with knowledge of maintenance management systems would be an asset
  • Be a team player with excellent collaboration & communication skills and the ability to work with all levels of the organization.
  • Consistent commitment to working safely

This permanent full-time position entails continental rotating (12 hours) shift work (days only) with the possibility to transition to a Monday-Friday 8 hours shift with occasional shift work (vacation coverage).

This is an excellent opportunity offering competitive wages with a starting rate of 40.14 per hour plus shift premiums.tep increases at 6,18 & 36 months plus annual increase, shift premiums for weekends and night shifts, overtime pay, company paid benefits after 3 months and a pension plan, all included on the Labour Agreement
