Freeport Construction Management is a division of Freeport Industries that focuses on on-site assembly success. Freeport Industries designs and builds customized modular structures for residential, commercial, and industrial clients throughout Western Canada.

Consistent with Freeport’s Vision, Mission, Values the Driver (Class One) will be a key member of the site installation team and will provide support for all transportation requirements throughout the project completion process.

Responsibilities

In the role of Driver with Freeport Construction Management, you will be responsible for some or all the following duties:

  • Oversee cargo handling and secure loads, including equipment preparation, application of safe practices, and compliance with applicable acts and regulations.
  • Operate various trucks over outdoor terrain and through all weather conditions.
  • Attend pre-job Safety meetings; ensure safety and emergency equipment is in good working order; and accurately complete all required forms.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with colleagues.
  • Comply with applicable legislation including safe operation, carriage of goods, driver’s hours, and occupational health and safety.
  • Maintain daily logs, inspection logs and other necessary paperwork.
  • Operate within standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Fill out and participate in JHAs, SafetyObservations, Near Miss Reports and Toolbox Talks.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid Class 1 Drivers license.
  • Clean Drivers abstract.
  • 2 - 3 years experience hauling oversized loads & low bedding equipment.
  • Experience hauling modular homes preferred
  • Experienced driving in the mountains, with winter driving experience an asset.

Work Environment

  • Construction environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
  • Must be capable of wearing personal protective equipment necessary to comply with required safety standards.
  • Tasks require walking, bending, twisting, navigating rough terrain, strapping loads, chaining, cribbing modulars, and occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs. May require long periods of sitting (driving), walking, and standing.
  • Travel out of town occasionally required.
