Primary Responsibilities

HDR is currently looking for a Transportation Planner / Engineer to join our growing Transportation Planning group, to support our various exciting transportation planning projects, including Municipal Class Environmental Assessments, Regional and Municipal Transportation Master Plans, as well as Traffic Engineering studies and preliminary design for corridor studies. HDR is one of the premier transportation planning firms in the industry and known globally for delivering custom solutions to challenging projects.

In the role of Transportation Planner / Engineer, we'll count on you to:

• Work as part of the Transportation Planning team under the direction of the Project Managers on a variety of Municipal and Provincial Class Environmental Assessments for transportation projects, Transportation Master Plan studies, preliminary design for road corridor studies, secondary plans, as well as potentially traffic studies.
• Coordinate project tasks under the guidance of team leaders and project managers, to ensure projects are delivered on-time and on-budget.
• Liaise with various internal and external team members and stakeholders, as required to complete project tasks with high quality deliverables.
• Work individually as well as within a team structure, effectively communication and corresponding with the team and clients.
• Undertake technical analysis to support a wide variety of transportation studies, potentially including traffic analysis and design. Experience with design software and traffic analysis software considered a plus.
• Perform other duties as needed including Mapping, data analytics, and drafting skills such as ArcGIS, PowerBI/Tableau, and AutoCAD or Autoturn are considered preferred assets.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Planning, or equivalent
• Minimum 4 years related experience
• EIT, P.Eng., RPP or P.Eng./ RPP eligibility in Ontario
• Strong verbal communication and written skills
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to multitask while working on many projects at once
• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant in our employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred Qualifications

• Skills and experience in traffic engineering and transportation planning, and design software (e.g. ArcGIS, Synchro/SimTraffic, Aimsun, Vissim, Emme).
• Skills and experience in design software (i.e. AutoCAD , MicroStation Version 8, and other design packages).
