Position Overview
Reporting to the Talent Acquisition Manager, the Talent Acquisition Specialist plays a key role in the recruitment and selection of employees and compliance with the Company’s policies and current legislation across all divisions. The Specialist works collaboratively with the business to define recruitment needs and job requirements; manages the job posting process then proactively sources, assesses and identifies qualified candidates through the Applicant Tracking System. The successful candidate will interview candidates, maintain candidate databases and follow-up in a timely manner as well as monitor and apply recruitment best practices and provides analytical, well documented reports for use by all teams. Our Talent Acquisition team contributes to the new hire experience by staying connected to them throughout their onboarding experience and beyond.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced recruiter, hiring manager, or go-getter who is just starting their career in Talent Acquisition. A background in marketing, sales and community collaboration would also be valuable assets.
This is not a remote position, the candidate will be required to work from our London, Ontario office location, but may be considered for a hybrid working option (3 days in office, 2 days offsite) after the successful completion of 3 months probationary period.
Key Responsibilities:
Recruitment:
- Obtains recruitment requirements from operations managers
- Builds applicant sources by researching and contacting community centers, colleges, social media, and attending job fairs
- Attracts candidates by posting and updating job advertisements via Workable, social media or other websites
- Performs interviews, reference checks, makes hiring decisions
- Develops and maintains pipeline of candidates to better predict the need
- Networks through industry contacts, association memberships, trade groups, social media, and employee
- Conducts regular follow-up with managers to determine the effectiveness of recruiting plans and implementation
- Issues invitations for employees to complete Stay Interviews and Exit Interview
Administration:
- Maintains all pertinent applicant and interview data
- Processes new employee and independent contractor payroll packages
- Verifies that new hire documentation is collected and submitted
- Coordinates training sessions and monitors attendance certifications
Reporting & Compliance:
- Ensures every employee has required certification(s) and has completed all required training
- Updates Global Policies and Procedures
- Updates HR Policies and Procedures
- Keeps up-to-date with current legislation
- Develops and executes recruitment plans
- Provides weekly and monthly recruitment updates to Senior Leadership Team and Operations Managers
- Tracks and analyzes data on applicants’ sources, time to hire and turnover rate
Requirements
What you bring:
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources or equivalent work experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Goal-oriented attitude
- Enjoys working in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to handle multiple assignments at the same time and ability to work independently with minimal direction
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Familiarity with HR databases, Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), online job posting boards and other recruitment software
- Strong Microsoft Office Experience (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) is essential
- Exposure to ADP or other payroll software would be an asset
- Stellar customer Service expereince, or dealing with the public at job fairs, hiring events or community events
- Experience with full-cycle recruitment (posting, screening, interviewing, and job offer) is a great asset
- Ability to source candidates via multiple channels (grassroot recruitment, social media, etc) and we encourage our team to be creative in their approach
- Travel is required throughout Southern and Central Ontario (up to 25% of the time)
