Working on several projects, and reporting to the Field Operations Manager, we are looking for a surveyor with relevant industry experience to augment our team and contribute to the growth and success of the company. This is an exciting, newly created position responsible for playing an integral role in establishing and maintaining methods for safe, accurate and efficient field survey operations.
As a surveyor you will contribute to our team by:
· Manage all aspects of survey projects including planning, client communication, price estimates, cost-tracking, resource planning and invoicing.
· Operate Robotic total stations, GPS, and level instruments to perform required surveys.
· Collect, organize, and record measurements and other data to help prepare drawings, plans, and sketches critical for field erection/construction execution.
· Verify the accuracy of survey data including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites.
· Calculate heights, depths, relative positions, property lines, and other characteristics of terrain.
· Determine longitudes and latitudes of important features and boundaries in survey areas using theodolites, transits, levels, and satellite-based global positioning systems (GPS) & Total Station (Leica).
· Interact with project management team to provide on-time information and solve problems to site-related issues.
· Coordinate and undertake planning and implementation of survey requirements to facilitate erection/construction activities.
· Liaison with Quality Manager, ensuring quality control measures are applied and documented.
· Review project deliverables prior to client release.
· Perform erection/construction layout work in various stages.
· Prepare daily work report.
· Read and interpret construction drawings.
· Lay-out critical structures for projects.
· Complete quantity comparisons between models and As-Built conditions.
· Complete quantity takeoffs from computer models.
· Maintain accurate survey records, documentation, and stamped submittals
· Perform other duties as directed to meet project quality requirements.
What you will bring to this role:
· Post-secondary degree or diploma in construction engineering or related discipline.
· 3+ years of working experience as a surveyor in civil/infrastructure construction projects.
· The ability to interpret and use information from design drawings and measurements taken in the field.
· Experience in a surveying role; construction and engineering surveying experience is a strong asset.
· Effective communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills with a high level of dependability.
· Proficient in cadastral and engineering surveying methodologies.
· Experience in monitoring survey work and topographical surveys.
· GPS and total station experience required.
· Strong working knowledge of CAD and other relevant surveying software and understands the limitations and use of standard surveying equipment.
· High level of attention to detail and ability to work independently on multiple projects.
· Ability to commute between sites as business requires.
· Ability to conceptualize 2D and 3D information.
· Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
· Ability to carry/lift 50 lbs.
