Bow Valley College is currently hiring for a Subject Matter Expert on an Employment Contract basis.


The Subject Matter Expert (SME), Occupational Therapist will assist in the development of instructional content and materials.

Candidates must be committed to collaborating with the curriculum design team and other subject matter experts to produce high quality curricula that are up to date with current best practice standards.


Curriculum Development

  • Identifies the workplace tasks and competencies of an Occupational Therapy Assistant.
  • Identifies the quality indicators of successful practice in the role of an Occupational Therapy Assistant.
  • Works with Instructional Designer to develop course materials.
  • Locates, analyzes, creates and modifies resources as necessary.
  • Assists in creating realistic assessment scenarios.
  • Aligns course competencies to national industry competencies.

Accountability

  • Participates in all scheduled meetings either remotely or in person.
  • Ensures all deliverables are completed on time and per project specifications.
  • Communicates with SHW Associate Dean re: timelines, contract, payment, and updates.

Other Duties/Special Projects

  • Adheres to College Policies and Procedures.



Job Requirements:


Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s in Occupational Therapy
  • 5 years of experience in a related field
  • Registration with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists
  • Strong understanding of the role of the Occupational Therapy Assistant

Preferred

  • Familiarity with Occupational Therapy Assistant competencies across Canada
  • Experience working successfully in interdisciplinary teams
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Instructional and curriculum development experience in a related field or in a post-secondary environment may be considered an asset
  • Strong knowledge and skills in Microsoft Office applications
  • Exceptional writing skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
