Purpose:


Leads and manages the GBM Data Platform Intake and Data Modelling/Business Data Architecture teams overseeing data management and operations on the GBM Data Platform. Contributes to the overall success of the GBM Data Office ensuring specific team goals, individual goals, plans and initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted comply with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.


The Sr. Manager reports directly to the Director, GBM Data Services and is responsible for supporting the overall management of data on the GBM Data Platform and the deployment of data governance and management capabilities. In particular, the Sr. Manager will be responsible for:


  • Leadership and execution of the effective management and governance of data, data producer and data consumer onboarding on the GBM Data Platform
  • Partnering with development, support, architecture and source System SMEs from technology and Data Domain Stewards and the Data Office, to support the Data Services team, strategic growth of data on the GBM Data Platform, prioritization of initiatives to improve overall data quality.
  • Maintaining a knowledge base of current requests for the GBM Data Platform for producers and consumers and supporting their data initiative needs.
  • Ensuring producers and consumers are following necessary GBM Data Office standards to ensure proper governance.


Accountabilities:


  • Builds and manages a world class data management team supporting GBM, Finance, Treasury, and Risk
  • Leads the team in supporting new data producer and consumer onboarding to the GBM Data Platform.
  • Supports and facilitates discussion with teams that intersect with the GBM Data Platform Intake Process, such as GWRT and Data Governance counterparts
  • Maintains the Common Data Model, used in the GBM Data Platform.
  • Reviews and provides Data Architecture for data initiatives going through intake.
  • Responsible for business as usual GBM Data Platform support and management of the GBM Data Platform Intake and Modelling teams as well as supports all data producers/consumers of the platform.
  • Provides coaching of team members for continual improvement and provides mid-year and end of year performance appraisals.
  • Understands and supports leading practices related to data controls, data lineage and data quality.
  • Ensures business stakeholder understanding, alignment and commitment to the objectives of the data office and management program.
  • Contributes to the overall data management practice and capabilities relating to data quality, data provisioning, metadata, lineage, reference data, issue management and change management.
  • Supports critical regulatory initiatives and efforts relating to trade data management.


Requirements & Qualifications:


  • Demonstrated ability to manage and inspire teams and deliver results.
  • Extensive experience with capital markets and investment banking products and processes across the front, middle and back offices.
  • Understanding of key components of modern data platforms including: data controls, data acquisition and ingestion, data processing, data enrichment, data models, data distribution.
  • Experience with project delivery, project management, business analysis and user acceptance testing
  • Experience with data governance/data management tools and techniques.
  • Working knowledge of IT infrastructure, various technologies/platforms, and aligned vendor solutions with enterprise strategic priorities.
  • Degree in IT or Business-related discipline preferred
  • 10+ years of experience working with capital markets and/or investment banking products and processes with focus on corporate banking
  • 5+ years managing high-performing teams
  • 5+ years of Data Management related experience (e.g. Data Quality, Metadata, Issue Management, Reference Data, Data Provisioning, etc.)
  • Knowledge of global financial regulatory environment is preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in Financial Services
