We’re looking for a Sous Chef who can help us deliver the best customer service and food experiences at our Oasis late night Food Outlet at Carleton University. Reporting to the Director, the Sous Chef oversees all activities of cooks and other kitchen personnel engaged in preparing and cooking foods, in addition to managing, training, and providing culinary vision and leadership in a retail concept.

6:30PM -3:00AM

Job Responsibilities
- Provide high quality food in a professional and efficient manner; comply with all H&S regulations
- Developing and motivating team members and providing culinary leadership and training
- Developing and planning of menu with the Executive Chef
- Interacting with Students, Faculty & Staff to maintain high customer engagement
- Promoting employee engagement by creating a safe & healthy environment
- Overseeing inventory control and Food & Labor costing by supporting Aramark's systems
- Resolving customer concerns and responding to culinary concerns
- Working with support team to promote Health & Wellness, Sustainability and Local Partnerships
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in culinary field
- Culinary degree or Red Seal as asset
- People management skills with experience in motivating, coaching, training and supervising team
- Strong relationship building skills with clients and customers
- Professional and positive with ability to lead in a stressful environment and ability to multitask
- Experience with food and labour costing
- Passion for food knowledge and catering trends
- Previous experience in a unionized environment a strong asset
- Must be able to work a schedule of Wednesday – Sunday from 6:30PM - 3:00AM
The finalist candidate for this position will need to complete and successfully pass a Criminal Background Check.
