Sourcing Specialist Job at Dometic Corporation

Summary:
The Sourcing Specialist will source, negotiate, coordinate and manage all aspects of a supplier onboarding process. You will work with Dometic Marine Strategic Sourcing colleagues to seek out new opportunities to improve costs, source for supplies, and reduce supply base of current parts and materials.
Main responsibilities:
- Prepare RFQs and seek quotes from current or new suppliers, negotiate prices, incoterms, delivery, tooling costs, lead-times, payment terms, etc
- Analyze and calculate product component costs, negotiate lowest costs with suppliers, and review quotes against similar manufacturing methods, processes, and market trends
- Negotiate prices and commercial issues/terms regarding cost, delivery, replenishment lead time, shipping, etc. within assigned commodities or projects
- Monitor raw materials to minimize increases of material costs
- Support and manage sourcing activities throughout new product development and launch stages
- Participate in product launch meetings and report on supplier or supply readiness to meet product launch schedule
- Conduct “make vs. buy” analyses and make recommendations accordingly
- Issue and manage tooling PO, monitor tooling construction progress, and ensure on-time completion and approval of tools
- Initiate, track, and manage Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) submission requirements to ensure timely completion
- Issue and manage pre-production and early production purchase orders as well as monitor delivery and quality
- Maintain a good working relationship with suppliers and internal departments
- Ensure compliance to the Dometic and PMAC code of ethics
- Work closely with project launch teams to support make vs buy decisions for machined components and assemblies
- Identify and lead cost reduction opportunities within assigned commodities by re-negotiating, resourcing, redesigning, or consolidating supplier base
- Conduct “spend analysis” to determine top “spend” items, commodities, activities, or suppliers to leverage and promote the most effective use of company funds
- Facilitate or assist to resolve supplier quality issues
- Complete other job duties and assignments as required
Qualifications and experience
- Degree or certificate in business, supply chain management, engineering, project management or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience at a senior or intermediate level of purchasing or strategic sourcing in a manufacturing environment
- SCMP designation is preferred
- Project Management knowledge and skills are highly desired
- Intermediate skills in MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Ability to form basic formulas and intermediate to advanced skills in MS Excel
- Good knowledge and or prior sourcing/purchasing history of one or more of the commodities/categories including but not limited to:
- Experience with sourcing rotating equipment such as impellors, turbomachinery, rotors, motors, bearings, shafts, etc.
- Mechanical parts including various types of castings, forgings, injection moldings, stampings, formed parts, precision machined parts, etc.
- Electronics/electrical products such as PCBA’s, wire cable’s, motors, sensor assemblies, controllers, etc.
- Hardware such as fasteners, fittings, seals, etc.
- Familiar with MRP systems and able to read and understand multi-layer BOM
- Good knowledge of supplier quality and understanding of sourcing requirements for mission critical components
