The Role:

The Shift Supervisor provides “hands-on” proactive management of the employees engaged in the daily production of our products within prescribed standards of cost, efficiency, accuracy and on-time delivery. This position implements new procedures to improve operational effectiveness and provides performance reports for management as required.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Responsible for safety, quality and efficiency of all employees on their shift
  • Direct Glulam Framing and Finishing teams
  • Enforce operational guidelines, procedures for plant workers in the above teams
  • Assist in interviewing, recruiting, training, performance evaluation, promotion and termination activities
  • Maintain/promote a clean, safe and organized facility
  • Ensure proper shift to shift communication and handover
  • Provide coverage for Plant manager vacation
  • Help us promote a culture of care where Health, Safety is #1
  • Model effective communication, leadership and partnership with the plants
  • Continuously grow and develop your operational knowledge and leadership capabilities by participating in professional development opportunities
  • Alignment with Structurlam’s values of safety, innovation, sustainability, agility, and teamwork
  • Be available for any shifts as required, Weekdays & Weekends

What you bring:

  • Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations
  • Previous supervisor or lead hand experience preferred
  • 2 years experience in wood product manufacturing industry, or working knowledge of wood products, woodworking or finishing
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership, analysis & problem-solving skills.
  • Basic computer skills (Word processing & spreadsheet)
  • Demonstrated time management, organization skills and excellent people skills.
  • Manage multiple activities/deadlines/reports.
  • Demonstrated ability to be assertive and respectful while ensuring compliances are met.
  • Proven ability to work through employees, training, and process/policy to attain goals.
  • Ability to thrive and work effectively in a fast paced and sometimes hectic work environment.
