Service Technician, Level 2 - Job Description

SUPERIOR Home Health Care is a leading supplier of home & institutional care medical equipment and assistive devices such as accessibility devices, wheelchairs, and other mobility aids.

We are currently seeking a professional, reliable, hard-working Service Technician to join our growing company. We are a fast-growing company that strives in “Making a Difference in Peoples Lives” throughout the Simcoe/Muskoka area. You will be working in a fast-paced environment with full support to make a positive difference in the lives of so many people!

Service Technician will be a front-line representative to repair and assess equipment for external customers as well as support our internal Sales Team. Their duties include handling customer and staff interactions, assessing and repairing equipment, and providing training and advice.

The ideal candidate will be goal-oriented and have a passion to grow while delivering high-quality customer service. The individual will have a minimum of two years experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electronic equipment such as wheelchairs, scooters, lift chairs, stairlifts, ceiling lifts, floor lifters, etc. The applicant should possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract (required as condition of employment), good communication skills, a working knowledge of ADP, WSIB, VAC and ODSP and will also have experience in dealing with Therapists and Authorizers.

Service Technician reports to the Service Manager of SUPERIOR Home Health Care.

Consideration will be extended for un-experienced candidates ONLY on the following basis: a minimum of five years experience in the healthcare industry along with a background of passion, enthusiasm, energy, empathy and excellent customer service.

Service Technician - Duties and Responsibilities

  • Delivering, assembling and/or installing SUPERIOR equipment within a client’s home and/or facility using SUPERIOR’S procedures, when required. This equipment includes products such as wheelchairs, hospital beds, stairlifts, vertical platform lifts, ceiling tracks, pediatric equipment, etc.
  • Troubleshooting equipment, providing diagnosis recommendations for problem resolution
  • Assembling and inspecting of equipment
  • Working with our internal Sales Representative to ensure orders, customizations and equipment adjustments are completed in a timely manner
  • Operating SUPERIOR’s service fleet vehicles in a safe and courteous manner throughout the area
  • Assisting in general warehouse duties such as organizing, stacking inventory, moving equipment, general stock picking as needed.
  • Follow all company safety protocol and procedures
  • Demonstrate open and effective communication within the Service Department, other colleagues, clients/customers, and other stakeholders
  • Lifting weight of up to 50 lbs. required
  • Must have a friendly, positive attitude and have the ability to have fun while working in a fast-paced environment

Service Technician - Skills and Qualifications

  • Post Secondary Degree/Diploma
  • Previous work experience in Home Medical Equipment industry would be a definite asset
  • Passionate interest in repairing and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical systems
  • Comfortable and knowledgeable with using manual and power tools
  • Excellent organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail
  • Exceptional people skills and the ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment
  • Must have the ability to establish good working relationships with the Service Department Team, other colleagues, clients/customers, and other relevant stakeholders
  • Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to listen effectively
  • Must have computer skills and be proficient in Microsoft (Word, Excel, Gmail)
  • Must have a friendly, positive attitude and have the ability to have fun while working in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Possess a clean, valid Ontario Driver’s license
