Position Description
The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is seeking a casual Security Guard 2 to work in the Security Services department. Reporting to the Supervisor of Security Services, the successful candidate will provide security and dispatching services and assistance to CAMH clients, visitors, staff and volunteers to promote a safe and secure environment. The Security Guard will assist clinical staff with client related matters; report and respond to emergency calls/conditions; patrol hospital buildings and grounds; and complete various reports. Other duties include ensuring that all Security and Safety procedures are maintained; protection of life and property; investigating criminal and other related incidents; liaising with Emergency responders and the removal of unauthorized persons. As a Control Centre Operator you will be responsible for receiving, processing, and disseminating security requests. You must maintain physical and visible presence in the security office to receive requests through telephone, email, radio, and in person. Analyze, triage, dispatching, and assignment of calls to the security staff. This role includes operation and monitoring of various technological systems such as dispatching, access control, CCTV, and duress. Liaising with various internal and stake stakeholders including management and reporting is required. Other duties include, scheduling, photo ID preparation, lost and found, and other administrative tasks. Control Centre Operator is required to act as Lead Hand. You will support a workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and effective communication as well as complies with all applicable regulatory and legislative requirements. This position involves shift rotation (day, evening, and night) and weekend work. This position is located at 1001 Queen Street West.

Qualifications
A successful candidate will possess 2 Years Community College education combined with 3 years of relevant experience. Completion of a recognized Law Enforcement Program is preferred. A valid PSIS’s Security Guard License is required. You must have one year’s healthcare security experience. You must be First Aid/CPR Certified. You possess the ability to deal tactfully and effectively with the public, staff and clients. You will be a motivated team player with a positive service-oriented approach. You will have strong interpersonal and communication skills with a demonstrated sensitivity towards mental health and addictions clientele. The incumbent must be able to work with minimal supervision, problem-solve and exercise good judgment in varied situations. Knowledge of Hospital Emergency response procedures, W.H.M.I.S., dispatching and non-violent crisis intervention techniques are considered assets. The successful candidate will possess basic computer skills such as Microsoft Word and Outlook. You will have the ability to cope with physical demands of work. Basic IAHSS (International Association for healthcare Security & Safety), Certified Protection Professional (CPP), or the Physical Security Professional (PSP) designation is an asset. Ability to work with diverse clients and staff is required. Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.

Salary Range: $22.92 - $28.28 per hour
