Wood's Homes is a non-profit children's mental health center based in Calgary and we create and provide quality mental health services that promote and restore the well-being of children and families who struggle with problems big and small. We are currently seeking a contracted Respite Caregiver for our Wheatland & Collingwood Programs.

• The Respite Caregiver will play a pivotal role in services provided through living with youth in one of our homes, located in Strathmore and NW Calgary.
• The Respite Caregiver will replace the permanent caregiver for a few days each month with longer terms possible over the summer months.
• This person will provide a positive, structured and caring environment for 4 youth.
• This role is supported by a staff team and the successful candidate will have an understanding of trauma informed care.

Responsibilities:

• Move in to the home temporarily and provide consistent and nurturing parental expectations for the youth in our care.
• Morning routines before school, bedtime routines, prepare family meals, etc.
• Be a part of the team supporting the youth by attending meetings geared towards planning for successful transitioning.
• Embrace the lifestyle of parenting our youth, along with an "extended family" in the form of a staff team.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate(s) will:

• Have parenting experience and personal suitability will be taken into consideration.
• Previous Foster Care experience is an asset.
• Quality training and extensive supports are provided to promote the success of youth, their placement in the home and family reunification.
