The opportunity:
The University of Manitoba Asper School of Business is looking for a Registration Assistant at the Undergraduate Program office. This position will act as the first point of contact with students in person, over the phone or via e-mail. The Registration Assistant will also make student appointments, provide general Asper School information, campus information, referrals, basic registration information, administrative support, and completes clerical duties.
The qualifications and experience we’re looking for:
- Completion of a formal training program in a related discipline from a recognized institution required.
- Minimum of two (2) years of directly related experience required.
- Experience working with people from diverse cultural, educational and socio-economic backgrounds, preferably in a university environment, is considered an asset.
- An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Meticulous attention to detail is required.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are required.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills are required.
- Demonstrated proficiency in intermediate features of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and other software are required.
- Demonstrated ability to adjust positively to changes in the work environment is required.
- Demonstrated understanding of and sensitivity to cultural diversity with the ability to relate to and communicate effectively with international students is required.
- The ability to work with a variety of students and staff personalities in a variety of situations is required.
- Willingness to be flexible with work hours may be required occasionally, when attendance at an evening event is required.
- Ability to cope during highly stressful peak periods in the academic year is required.
- Ability to organize own work station and prioritize assignments and maintain accurate computer and paper files is required.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information is required.
- Ability to be diplomatic and tact required.
- Qualities of reliability and punctuality are required.
- Qualities such as industry, integrity, patience and tact are required.
- Demonstrated proficiency in using TEAMS, WebEx, Zoom appointment booking software is an asset.
- Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
