Registered Practical Nurse OR Registered Nurse (Part-Time) Job at Manotick Medical Centre
We are a Family Health Organization that is committed to promoting, maintaining and enhancing the quality of life and health of our patients.
We are looking for enthusiastic, energetic and motivated individuals to fulfil the role of a Registered Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse. We have one permanent part-time position within our dynamic and supportive interdisciplinary team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performing various clinical tasks such as IM & S/C injections, wound care, removing stiches/staples, ear irrigation, and Holter Monitors
- Vaccinating patients of all ages as per the Publicly Funded Immunization Schedules for Ontario
- Performing well baby developmental evaluations of children 0 to 4 years old and providing parent education
- Providing patient teaching and counseling on various topics such as smoking cessation, diabetes, contraception and cardiovascular disease
- Providing telephone advice to patients, including providing test results
- Assisting the physician during procedures
- Participating in meetings to improve the quality of care delivered in the clinic
REQUIREMENTS:
- Current registration as Registered Nurse or Registered Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
- Certificate of Professional Liability Protection with the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO), the Canadian Nurses Protective Society or RPNAO (Registered Practical Nurses Association of Ontario)
- Strong knowledge of the health problems that can arise in a family medicine practice for all clients from birth to old age
- Demonstrated ability to work with other health professionals in an interdisciplinary team
- Excellent clinical judgment and a strong sense of initiative
- Excellent knowledge of primary and secondary prevention of the most common chronic diseases
- Able to teach an individual or a group about various themes related to chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disease, pulmonary disease, smoking cessation and diabetes
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated aptitude in working with computer systems
- Valid CPR certification
JOB OFFER
- Able to communicate fluently in English
JOB TYPE:
- Permanent Part-Time position, Monday through Friday and available daytime and with potentially one evening shift until 8 pm Monday through Thursday
- Required to be available to work weekend shifts on an as needed from 9:30 am until 1:00 pm
