Canada Summer Job Program


This role is a part of the Canada Summer Jobs initiative to support youth in obtaining quality temporary work experiences. Contract lengths for 2023 are 8 weeks, working 35 hours per week in a hybrid working model. Anticipated contract dates will fall between June 5, 2023, and September 1, 2023. Participants of Canada Summer Job roles must meet the following requirements:


  • Must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment
  • Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
  • Must have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
  • Must be able to work all 8 weeks consecutively

Hourly Rate: $16.50


We are currently seeking one full-time contract Receptionist.
As a receptionist, you will perform reception and administrative duties and support the Reception of CMHA Peel Dufferin as required. You’ll perform a variety of important tasks that make each day new and exciting, and you’ll belong to a team that supports and respects each other as we work together to make a difference within our organization.


CMHA Peel Dufferin has adapted to a hybrid working model including a mix of on-site and remote work. Staff are required to have onsite presence 2-3 times, or more if needed, to meet client and/or program needs.


What you will do


  • Perform telephone duties at main reception and greet guests, clients, and other members of the public to the office and direct them to the appropriate department/individual
  • Compile and distribute incoming and outgoing mail to various programs
  • Ensure that program brochures are available, and order as needed\
  • Book meeting rooms, training rooms and facilities
  • Assist with correspondence, supply inventory, booking venues, general office upkeep, housekeeping of CMHA board rooms, kitchenette duties, and other administrative duties as assigned.
  • Other administrative tasks and duties as assigned

What you need to join our team


  • Currently enrolled in or a graduate of a post-secondary program in Business/Office Administration
  • Previous administrative experience, as well as experience working with client/patient related or driven databases would be an asset
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and comfort level working with people with mental illness and addictions
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills both in person and over the phone
  • Ability to work independently in a multi-task environment and to prioritize tasks in a manner that meets staff needs and program objectives
  • Proof of administered full-series Health Canada approved COVID-19 vaccination prior to start date. If unable to be vaccinated for reasons relating to protected grounds under the Code, completed medical or religious exemption must be provided.
  • A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Screening (Police Check) report
  • Comfortable lifting and carrying objects up to 10lbs and sitting for long periods
