Receptionist Job at Public Practice Accounting Firm
Job Posting - Receptionist/Administrative Assistant
Working in accounting can be no easy feat, but if your join our team, you'll be in for a treat!
About Us
We are a closely knit team that enjoys a healthy blend of working hard and enjoying each other's company.
Come to Work as a Whole Person
We operate under the belief that because most of us spend more time with each other than anyone else in our lives, we want to have fun, learn from and support each other, and, of course, have a good laugh. Because of the small size of our team, we like to foster a friendly, supportive environment where everyone feels like they come to work as a whole person, not just as an employee. That means that we encourage open communication to support our team members to the fullest, whether you're having personal or professional challenges or health issues.
Quit Working for the Weekend
Perhaps the most significant part of our culture is our four-day work weeks, which means every weekend is a long weekend. It also means that days are a bit longer, clocking in at around ten hours per day, but we're flexible about when you start and finish, within reason, as client service is our top priority.
Tis' the Season for a Party
Yes, the work can be demanding, especially during the tax season. Still, we also offer lots of perks like fun festive lunches to celebrate every season and holiday - we love to include a good trivia game with great prizes too! Did we mention we also have a top-of-the-line espresso and cappuccino machine to fuel all that ambition? Now, that's amore! Our owner has a famously sweet tooth, meaning treats and snacks are often present in our office. On that note, we offer great dental benefits but more on that later.
Work Hard, Pay Harder
You'll undoubtedly flourish with our team if you have an aptitude for stellar client service, attention to detail, and daily learning of new and challenging information. We encourage personal excellence and reward it accordingly. We also offer to work remotely for our team members with a stronghold of their skillset.
Now, let's chat about the role…
- Client service is number one: because we operate within a closely knit community and believe empowering and educating our clients is integral to their confidence in our organization. Regular check-ins, and general assistance navigating the dizzying world of taxation are significant parts of this role.
- Stellar organizational skills: many of our clients prefer in person meetings, while some like to connect with our accountants over the phone. Schedules can get packed pretty quickly, but that’s where you’ll come in. In addition to taking meaningful notes to assist our team’s understanding of client needs, we’ll rely on you to ensure that meetings are booked promptly but not too close together.
- Ownership of tasks: especially filing tax returns, properly printing and organizing different kinds of documents for both corporate and personal clients is of the utmost importance.
- Always channeling a dutiful diplomat: taxes, and money in general cause many people a great deal of stress, so your sunny and compassionate disposition on the phone and in person make all the difference.
- A strong sense of discretion: giving the wrong return to a client can be disastrous. We are keepers of our client’s most private documentation so attention to detail and tact are especially important.
- The ability to prioritize: it’s worth its weight in gold at our office because the demands can be aplenty and constantly shifting. Approaching your work like a healthcare professional in a busy emergency department where triage(aka the most pressing patient calls for your attention first) is the name of your game; you'll do well with our team.
Your Qualifications
First things first: remember that although we have a lengthy wish list, we also love a self-starter with the ambition and drive to learn and advance. That means that we'd still like to hear from you even if you are missing some of the qualifications.
- Post-secondary education in Business Administration.
- At least five years experience in receptionist and administrative roles.
- An ability to be patient with yourself and your teammates as you learn accounting software.
We also offer:
- Competitive salary - as we stated before, hard work yields rewards in our organization, like remote work opportunities and annual raises and bonuses for stellar performance.
- Benefits - don't expect a deduction on your salary because we pay for your benefits, including dental, vision and medical care, amongst many other offerings.
- Flexible schedule - we are happy to meet your needs so long as your work is executed and completed promptly and satisfactorily. Need to run and pick up your kid? Maybe duck out for a quick medical appointment? No problem, just let us know the amount of time you'll need and, if necessary when the time missed will be made up, and you're good to go!
