WGL specializes in Pipeline, Facility, and Civil Construction. We have grown from a single crew operation to a company that employs nearly 500 full and part-time workers, with offices in Peace River, Grande Prairie, and Fort St John. Weaver is looking to add to our team!

Weaver Group has the following long-term positions available, for upcoming projects within the Peace River, Alberta area: Journeyperson/3rd & 4th Year Apprentice Pipefitters

General Requirements

  • Apprentices are required to have a minimum 3 years experience working in gas/oilfield environments; preference given to those with oil and gas plant and facility experience.
  • Journeyperson Pipefitters are required to have a minimum 5 years experience pipeline pipefitting.
  • Journeyperson Pipefitters must have experience running crews.
  • Proficient in English reading, writing and language skills.
  • Capable of taking direction, following written/verbal instruction and working independently
  • Knowledgeable of OHS protocols and compliance within the industry
  • Able to assess, identify and minimize safety risks and hazards
  • Must be able to fit by hand and able to perform bolt up unsupervised
  • Able to competently operate a variety of hand, power tools and equipment
  • Experience operating, side and center-mounter picker trucks, fork-lifts, side-booms and skid-steers
  • Knowledgeable of the usage and operation of H2S gas monitors
  • Capable of performing physically demanding work at heights or on elevated surfaces
  • Willing to work outdoors for extended periods of time in all climates
  • Available to work shifts and extended hours when necessary

Qualifications

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Preference will be given to Alberta registered apprentices or Red Seal Journeypersons (or to those who hold an apprenticeship or journeyman certificate recognized by AIT)
  • Current Pipeline Construction Safety Training (PCST)
  • Current Common Safety Orientation (CSO) required
  • Current Standard First Aid with Level C CPR required
  • Current H2S (Energy Safety Canada or Work Safe BC issued) required
  • Current Fall Arrest preferred
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License required (must be able to get to work as shop is located 15 minutes outside of Grande Prairie and is not accessible by public transit)

LOA available for those who qualify.

Sub Contractor rates available.

Wage dependent upon experience and qualifications.

Job Types: Full-time, Apprenticeship

Salary: $24.00-$45.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • 10 hour shift
  • 12 hour shift
  • Day shift

Supplemental pay types:

  • Overtime pay
