Office Location: Warburg, AB (Genesee area)

Shift: Monday-Friday; 50hrs/week

Travel: Daily travel allowance @ $0.59/km from Edmonton area

Position Summary

We are seeking an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer experienced with capital mechanical engineering projects. Gas turbines power generation experience is considered an asset. Projects typically consist of boiler and pressure vessels, pressure piping systems, cooling towers and dry coolers, conveyance, rotating equipment, and site services. The successful candidate will be responsible for understanding designs within the context of a multidisciplinary design/construction team and providing technical assistance to clients for mechanical engineering-related matters.

Other responsibilities include:

· Registering as a responsible member with APEGA and participating in the maintenance and development of our professional practice management plan, maintain office master specifications, design standards, and details for efficient re-use.

· Supporting management and leadership by participating in team-level performance reviews.

· Able and willing to transfer knowledge to junior engineers, technicians, drafters, project managers, and coordinators through the regular course of business.

· Managing Mechanical Engineering projects; adhering to budgets, timelines, and key deliverables.

· Overseeing project planning, setting design direction and schedule, estimating project costs, providing cashflow projections, monitoring progress of several projects simultaneously while reporting key metrics as needed for client projects that operate industrial facilities.

· Reviewing project sites to assess the condition of existing equipment, gathering information to complete designs, and walk-down work with construction personnel.

· Providing feedback and advice regarding the technical and mechanical aspects of client projects to management and other project leaders.

· Preparing and reviewing designs and reports prepared by other engineers and designers.

· Collaborating with other engineering disciplines and construction personnel to ensure project success.

· Occasionally acting in a Project Engineering role to coordinate larger design and construction projects.

· Ensuring ongoing compliance with local, national, and international standards (where applicable) and legislation.

Our Ideal Candidate

· 5-10 years’ experience onsite in an Industrial site setting.

· Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

· Registered as a P.Eng. with APEGA.

· Operating or maintenance experience in the oil & gas, chemical, agriculture, green energy, and conventional power industries is an asset.

· Working knowledge of OH&S Act, Code, and regulations.

· Working knowledge of risk analysis and risk management.

· Ability to create, maintain, and review technical documentation including project execution plans, design documents, and specifications (on drawing, performance, and book).

· Produce construction work packages.

· Proficiency in vessel design, pipe stress analysis, or other finite element software.

· Working knowledge of construction techniques and skills. Comfortable working with tradespeople.

· Has an interest in multidisciplinary work and understands the needs and requirements of other engineering disciplines.

· Practical experience with rotating equipment, material handling, piping design, vessel design, process design, Finite Element Analysis (using Caesar II).

· Demonstrated knowledge of Canadian (where applicable)/local Engineering Codes, Standards, and Regulations such as ASME B31.1, ASME B31.3, ASME Section VIII Div. 1, CSA B149, API 12F, API 650, and Alberta Fire Code. Working knowledge of ASHRAE and SMACNA.

· Proven track record in managing projects within budgets.

· Comfortable working in operating heavy commercial and industrial facility environments.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills.

· Professional, personable, and committed to producing high-quality work.

· Sound and independent judgment and reasoning.

· Excellent time management and project management skills.

· High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office productivity suite.
