Job description and duties
Coast Mountain College (CMTN), Kitimat campus, invites applications for an Instructor(s) in the Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) program as outlined below (subject to minimum student enrolment). Salary will be in accordance with the CUPE Instructional Scale.
Duties: The instructor(s) is responsible for contributing to the academic success of students in the ECCE program. This includes course preparation, teaching and guiding students, providing feedback, correction, encouragement, and direction. Courses may be delivered via distributed learning (the instructor must be located at one of our campuses) and include:
Intersession 2023
- ECCE 162: Nurturing Creativity in the Young Child (April to June 2023)
- ECCE 126: Field Placement II (June to August 2023)
The ECCE program is delivered in a multi-modal distance format therefore teaching will be required via teleconference or online, or in practical fieldwork based on the needs of the program.
Qualifications
A minimum of a Master’s degree in the field of Early Childhood Education or a related field along with early learning experience and teaching experience at the post-secondary level in the area of early learning. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Required skills include:
- Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching with the ability to motivate and mentor learners of all ages
- Knowledge and enthusiasm for the best practices in equity, diversity, and inclusion in the classroom
- Ability to function effectively across cultures, particularly with the Indigenous communities is an asset
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and facilitation skills
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to recruit and retain students in a post-secondary setting
