KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Performs moderately complex installations, inspections, overhauls, modifications, repairs, troubleshooting and preventative maintenance to a wide variety of shop machinery and equipment, mechanical tools and shop devices including hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical components
- Fabricate and/or assemble special lifting and handling slings, machine parts, tools, brackets or similar devices
- Work with other trades when performing major overhauls, rebuilds or modifications
- Operate a TTC vehicle to pick up parts and deliver parts and various types of cranes and hoists to move heavy machinery
- Complete own job and time cards, and other routine forms, records or reports
- Use a computer system to facilitate the input and retrieval of information (e.g. update repair information to the equipment maintenance tracking system)
- Responsible for treating passengers and/or employees with respect and dignity and ensuring the needs of passengers or employees with disabilities are accommodated and/or addressed (within the area of responsibility) in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders so that they can fully benefit from the TTC as a service-provider and an employer

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
- Requires a valid Certificate of Qualification as an Industrial Mechanic (Millwright), License 433A issued by the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. Normally obtained through the completion of grade 12 education or its recognized equivalent as determined by the TTC’s Training Department
- Successful completion of the apprenticeship training program for the Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) trade is an asset
- Requires a valid, non-probationary, Province of Ontario class “G” driver’s license
- Must attend and successfully complete the Technical Standards & Safety Authority’s (TSSA) Industrial Maintenance Technician (IMT) Certification Program
- Successful completion of TTC in-house training for confined space entry, defensive driving, WHMIS, fall protection awareness, lifting devices, oxy-acetylene torch awareness, safe use of hoists and overhead cranes, forklift operation and ozone depletion potential/chlorofluorocarbons (ODP/CFC) certification
- Must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees.
- Must provide own tools as per the Department’s established tool list
