Are you right for this position?

Are you a junior or intermediate PHP developer with 3+ years of experience, looking to improve your skill-set and learn from industry professionals? Working for MySIS, you will learn how to build, support and maintain enterprise systems used by universities and colleges across Canada. Unlike most systems, MySIS is an all-in-one, feature-rich solution, growing rapidly in popularity.

Requirements:

- 3+ years experience with native PHP / MySQL.
- 3+ years experience with native JavaScript and familiarity with jQuery.
- Fluent with CSS and HTML.
- Excellent communication skills in English.
- Ability to adapt and follow strict coding standards.
- Ability to work well remotely and with a team.
- Education: High-school diploma minimum. Diploma(s) in web development (specifically PHP) are a plus.
- Located in British Columbia, Canada (preference to Victoria residence).

Your Responsibilities:

- Develop modules and upgrades for MySIS using PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
- Review existing code and fix bugs as reported.
- Handle help desk requests to support the product and fix reported issues in a timely fashion.
- Attend (virtual) meetings and developer touch-backs.

Training / On-boarding:

Provided. You will be trained how to use the system as a front-end user, and will then dive in to the back-end, and be trained how to develop using our custom MVC framework. By the end of the first month you will be building simple modules and updates. By month two, you should be familiar with most aspects of the system, and will be handling more complex tasks, alongside a senior software engineer. By month six, you will be able to handle tasks on your own, in a timely fashion, and will be able to solve most help desk tickets without additional support.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $55,343.00-$76,000.00 per year
